Grilling season may almost be over, but the flames in my heart will never subside.

It just doesn’t get any easier, buddy. We do this each and every year, but it still hurts just as bad as the first time we parted ways. There’s nothing we can do, though. We both know it. In a few weeks, I’ll be forced to return to the kitchen and that cold-hearted stove of mine and you’ll be out here sitting silently under a tarp on the back porch for months. It’s not right, no, but it’s just the way things are. Let’s just try to make the most of the time we have left, huh? That seems like the best thing to do.

Let me tell you something, though. You may see me through that sliding glass door curling up on the couch to watch something on my Toshiba 24” 1080p LED-LCD HDTV with Built-In DVD Player. You might hear me laugh or cheer while playing a football video game with the HDTV set to Gaming Mode to enhance the gaming experience by reducing controller delay. You could even catch a glimpse of me carrying something I’ve cooked in the – I don’t even know if I can say the word – oven to the coffee table and then put a movie in the built-in DVD player. Just know this: I am always thinking of you and longing for the day when I might place meats upon your precious grill again. Always.

I’m sorry. I said I wouldn’t cry, but I just can’t help myself. I’ll be fine. I just need a little time to get over the pain. And maybe one last rib-eye.
