Don’t you love Roku? Yes, you do. You either love it or you just don’t know you love it yet. I mean, what’s not to love about the Roku XD 1080p Streaming Player? Bringing streaming video from your existing subscriptions (Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc.) to your TV with high-speed, extended-range Wireless-N connectivity – AND doing it all in hi-def up to 1080p? Please inscribe that name permanently on my body in transdermal ink!
First I looked up how to write it in Japanese. (Everybody knows Asian letters are more meaningful.) Then I had my tat guy ink it on my shoulder blade three times, in my usual tasteful “burned into a piece of charred, weathered parchment” motif. All my tats are in that style, and why mess with success?
I just wish I had known two things: one, I was soon going to fall in love with a Japanese girl whose parents were Christian fundamentalists. And two, “roku” means “six” in Japanese. Everything was going fine until that day we all went to the beach. They recoiled from my shoulder blade like I was branded with the mark of Satan himself. I tried stammering out an explanation about the robustness of Roku’s streaming media experience, but then some holy water got into my eyes. To be fair, my hysterical sobbing probably did sound pretty demonic.
Still, I regret nothing. My love for Roku abides. And it wasn’t as bad as the tattoo my sister got on spring break. She thought it said “eternal love”. It’s amazing how few characters the Chinese need to say “overweight, gangrenous prostitute”. Like I said, their letters are just more meaningful.
