You’ll Be Like Buck Rogers Only Not As Lame
Once there was a company that was almost bankrupt. A company that had made brave decisions that the world just wasn’t ready for. A company that was slightly ahead of it’s time. Then that company rehired Steve Jobs, made their computers look pretty and egotistical, and now everybody in the whole world wants an iPhone. What, might you ask, does that have to do with the Asus Eee PC 900 Netbook with XP?
Well, possibly nothing. But based on a certain recent announcement, we’re thinking you might want to hop on the Asus bandwagon while it’s still on the ground floor of the henhouse full of foxes. Because Asus is clearly planning to reinvent itself in an attempt to be the next big thing.
Of course, the current Asus Eee PC 900 Netbook with XP isn’t so bad as is. It’s a cute little thing that comes with XP installed (coff coff) and boasts a gig of RAM, plus a 16 gig solid state disk working as a hard drive. It’s got 802.11 b/g/n Wifi and a 10/100 Ethernet LAN Connection as well. That means you’re getting a nice little portable machine for a low, low price. Perfectly respectable. So why would Asus want to step things up?
Well, maybe it’s that Steve Jobs is getting phone calls from rock stars while Jonathan Tsang is at home, eating cold ravioli out of the can. Maybe it’s that rich kids are lining up to see Sonic Youth at their local Apple Store while fat guys are writing “Vulcan Forever!” on the top of their netbooks. Maybe Tsangy’s been looking in the mirror and saying “Why can’t the good guys in action movies be using Asus Eee’s? What’s in the way of that?” Maybe Asus is just at that awkward age when, if it weren’t a corporation, it would begin to play the guitar. Or maybe, just maybe, he’s on to something big.
Whatever happens next, you can rest assured that today’s Asus Eee PC 900 Netbook with XP is gonna make a nice little netbook that you can enjoy at home or at work. But we get this feeling that there’s something on the horizon. Something that might change what the dominant iStyle means. And when everyone is fighting over a brand new aPhone in a few years, we’re pretty sure that you’re gonna wish you had something to prove your alpha geek status. So keep in mind that this could be your one and only chance to be the coolest guy the future’s ever seen. Don’t let a chance like that pass you by.
