Listen, I’m a popular guy. I got personal emails coming at me all day, every day. But I work at a place that doesn’t allow me to access my personal email on my work computer. They even look down on it if I check it on my smart phone at my desk! Maybe this doesn’t seem like a big deal to you, but I’ve had friendships go in flames because I didn’t reply quickly enough.

Conveniently, though, this same strict and staunch workplace whose rules I have outlined above takes no issue with me putting a giant, plastic, light-up envelope on my desk and installing its software onto my computer! Now, when this thing turns blue, red, or green, I know that it’s time to “go to the bathroom” or “head outside for a cigarette.” In the safety of the stall or stairwell or parking lot, I can take out my phone and re: that email or Facebook post to my heart’s content!
