“So you think money can’t buy everything? Well, David, what would you say if I offered you one million dollars to spend the night with your eMachines Athlon X2 2.1GHz Desktop Computer?”

“I’d say you must be joking.”

“It’s no joke. I’m serious. You see, many years ago I saw a PC like that on the subway. We made eye contact a couple of times. I thought I saw it smile once. Then it was gone. I rode that same subway every day for nineteen years, but I never saw that PC again. And I vowed then and there not to let that happen a second time.”

“OK, but’s it’s just kind of… I don’t know, weird.”

“Why? You bought that eMachine for a reason. Is it really so weird that another man would feel the same way? Is it really so strange that I’d be attracted to its Athlon X2 processor, its 320GB SATA II 7200rpm hard drive, its 7.1 audio? When I saw those six USB ports, I felt like-”

“Hey, watch it. That’s my computer you’re talking about.”

“I apologize. I assure you, I’ll be a complete gentleman.”

“I don’t know…”

“Does my offer shock you? Does it shake the foundation of your morality and force you to confront the dark corners of your psyche?”

“No, I just don’t understand why you’d pay a million dollars to borrow a computer that you could buy for a few hundred.”
