Finally, HP is bringing their famously serious-minded, disciplined, organizational approach to our couch potato sessions. After all, we’ve long used computers to structure our schedules during the workday. Why should watching TV be any less regimented?

There was a time when we’d just stare, glassy-eyed at whatever happened to be on. No more—we’ve got the HP M7490N to record and file our favorite shows, to index our music and to catalog our digital photos. Now when we slump onto the sofa, it’s to work efficiently through hours of concentrated programming. No more commercial interruptions, no more letting the networks decide when it’s time to tackle “Yes, Dear.”

When we finish a whole month of sit-coms in one night, it doesn’t seem like we’re wasting our life. It seems like we’re being productive. Hey, we’re good at this. We’ve been watching TV all our life, but it’s only recently— and thanks to the HP Media Center—that it finally feels like a job.

With one crucial difference: we’re good at it.
