If you want to do a lot of listening to your mp3 player in your car, there’s only one way to go, really: Pay a hundred bucks or so and get an auxiliary input for your car stereo. Yeah, there are cheaper options—tape adaptors and FM transmitters—but there’s a reason they’re cheaper, after all.

So that’s settled. Your car’s all set up. But here come the holidays, here come the holidays, right down scenic Holiday Parkway. And while you’re back home visiting the folks on the family farmstead, you’re going to want to borrow your parents’ car to run an errand or two, or meet the old gang downtown, or just put some space between yourself and your siblings’ horrible new spouses for a few minutes.

Since mom’s ride’s not pimped like yours, you’ll be glad to have this Magnavox FM Transmitter stashed in your jacket pocket.

It’s small enough that you’ll hardly notice it in your carry-on bag, cheap enough even to fit in the pre-holiday budget—and your music alternatives in mom’s car are going to be, what? Her well-worn Anne Murray tape or whatever your hometown radio station has programmed for heavy rotation on December 24th. (Ten bucks says it’s Mannheim Steamroller.)

Really, as stressful as the holidays already are, it’s no time to go cold turkey on your favorite records too.
