Sharks With Frickin’ Razers
First of all, we think Razer doest protest too much. What’s with all the hyperaggressive macho product naming? It’s kind of strange. It makes us feel like they’re compensating for something. Maybe deep inside, everyone on the Razer development team is a frightened little boy, and these product names provide a front behind which they can hide.
Be that as it may. Even stranger to us is the careless metaphor-mixing. “Razer Mako?” What?
If your company’s called “Razer,” then you should name your bad-ass 2.1 gaming speaker system the “Scimitar” or “Cold Steel” or like that. But if you want to name the speakers “Mako,” your company has to be called something like “Predator” or maybe “Reef.” Because we can easily think of this speaker set as being razor-like in its keen precision. Or we can think of it as being shark-like, in its power and terrible fury or whatever. But it’s just confusing to try to think of it as being both razor-like and shark-like at once. Because in fact, it is neither a razor nor a shark; it’s a speaker system. Get it together, Razer.
