Ah, you gotta love businesses with lazily patriotic names. Why bother coming up with a creative, distinctive name that says something about your company’s outlook and philosophy? Just dub the new venture “American Tile & Flooring” or “Orthotics USA” and your work is done. At least your potential customers won’t be confused about what country you’re located in.

So it goes with U.S. Robotics. They didn’t waste their time and money meeting with branding specialists; they just looked at a map and said, “Hey, that sounds good.” Then they got on to more important matters, such as creating products like this US Robotics 802.11G Wireless MAXg Range Extender. It picks up your wireless network signal at the outer limits of its natural range and relays it out further, boosting your network coverage area by some 50%. It works with 802.11b, g, and super g routers, and features WPA, WEP, and MAC address filtering for network security tighter than the proverbial duck’s proverbial hindquarters.

You won’t expend any more effort setting up the Wireless MAXg Range Extender than U.S. Robotics did in coming up with their company name. And if the bland moniker bothers you, well, it wouldn’t work any better if it were manufactured by a company called Vergentrys or Tranzzvoxx.
