I’ve tried everything I can to take this relationship to a deeper level. I’ve poured my heart out to you just like I pour that water into you, hoping you’d see it was safe to open up to me. But no. You just sit there, silent, giving me ice cubes but not a thing beyond that.

What’s going on behind that stainless steel casing? I’m sure you’ve got dreams and regrets like the rest of us. You’ve loved, been loved, broken hearts, had yours broken. But for some reason, you just won’t let me really get to know you. What’s keeping you from trusting me? Is it me? Is it you? Is it us?

I’m almost ready to give up. Now is the time when you should run to me, beg me to stay, promise me that those long, lonely hours are over and you’re ready to love again. But all you can do is sit there. So, fine. I don’t think I’ll be needing any more ice. Your silence is cold enough.
