At the Bureau Of Just Actions, Rick Justice sat with his feet on the desk that used to belong to his father and tuned his XACT Wristlinx Two-Way Wristwatch Radio X33XIF.
“Gosh, Rick!” said his partner (and best friend) Anthony Purebottom. “Just think! This is just where your dad and my dad used to work!”
“That’s right Anthony,” Rick grinned at his boyhood chum. “And with this very XACT Wristlinx Two-Way Wristwatch Radio X33XIF, too!”
“Rick!” exclaimed Anthony. “This very one? With the 1.5 mile range? And the 22 channels? And the-”
”-38 privacy codes?” Rick finished. “The very same, Anthony. And the electronic volume control, call alert, channel scan…”
“You can recharge the battery, too?”
“You know it, old friend.”
“Gosh, Rick,” Anthony said, thoughtfully. “Maybe we should get a second one so you’ve got someone to talk to. I-I mean, if you wanna.”
Rick slapped Anthony on the shoulders in a warm but manly way. “That’s the kind of thinking that will get you running this place one day, old friend. Come on.”
“Where are we going?”
“The requisitions room! You don’t think I wanna talk to some rookie I didn’t grow up with, do you?”
Anthony ran behind Rick, laughing like children, just like it had always been.
